Hi runs1215
Adding 'happen to' to the sentence basically tells you that the speaker knows that you currently have no concrete plans to visit the USA and also that a possible visit is not currently being considered. . _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

Isn't the same conclusion possible with "if you come to the USA..."? |

Hi,
The addition of 'happen' suggests 'by chance'.

Would "do" do the same?
And how about "if you do happen to..." And "if by happen chance..."? Or "if you chance to..."?
I'm confused. :? |
