concrete block = Betonprofil? Wed Aug 20, 2008 16:13 pm  concrete block = Betonprofil?

Hi,

There is the German word "Betonprofil" which I would translate as "concrete block". Basically, a "Betonprofil" is a concrete block that can come in all sizes and shapes. Would "concrete block" a good translation of "Betonprofil"?

Thanks,
Torsten

What about "Generic blocks"? But I am not sure if generic can describe/stands for all sizes/shapes. Just an idea.

Based on your description, they'd just be concrete blocks. I'd have to see pictures of them.

Hi Jamie,

Please find an example of a "Betonprofil" here. What do you call these in English?
Thanks,
Torsten

You call it "poured-concrete" (adj.) and whatever the thing actually is. A poured-concrete base, a poured-concrete guardrail, a poured-concrete column, just whatever it is. You could say poured-concrete (highway) construction elements.

I am only familiar with pre-cast concrete.

I think "pre-cast" is more accurate than "poured".
