Hi, I'm looking for an English equivalent of the German word "dampfdiffusionsdurchlässig". It's an adjective and it means that something can be penetrated by steam diffusion. It's a characteristic of building materials. It means that moisture can diffuse through it.

Many thanks,
Torsten

Absorbent material? Or moisture absorbent material?

On second thoughts, perhaps porous? But I've only used this for soil.

Hi Torsten

In my dumb version of English, I might use words such as permeable, semi-permeable, or perhaps permeable to vapor (definitely not steam). I presume the reference is to building materials that "breathe", so to speak.

But don't take my word for it, Torsten. Perhaps you'd better wait for a translation in British English. You'll probably find it much more acceptable.
