Real difference between simple present and continuous #2 (permalink) Thu Aug 21, 2008 9:12 am   Real difference between simple present and continuous

Hi,

It would have to be: I am telling you and I tell you. the main difference is that the simple form usually describes something that is repeated and the continuous describes something that is happening now.

Here are two examples:

She always tells her children a story at bedtime.
She is telling them a story at the moment and they are listening very carefully.
