What are the differences between "public amenities" and "public institutions"? Which of both would match best with the German term "öffentliche Einrichtungen"?

Many thanks,
Torsten

I don't speak German, so I don't know, but "public amenities" sound like toilet facilities available to the general public, while "public institutions" refer to organizations that are run by and for the general public, compared to privately run institutions (say, a public school versus a private school).

I agree, Torsten-- public amenities sounds like washrooms, drinking fountains, phone booths. Public institutions sounds like libraries, art galleries, museums and zoos. Do either of those match 'öffentliche Einrichtungen'?
