Hi Holly
The complete expression is "lock, stock and barrel".
Although you won't hear people use this expression on a daily basis, I'd say it's an expression people generally know (in the US), and it is still used on occasion. Incidentally the only time I've ever seen it was in one of King's novels. It appeared to me so weird that I involuntary remembered it :D I even remember the context: it was owned, lock stock and barrel by.... |
