Hi Alex
Has everyone in your family suddenly become a notorious backseat driver or something?
I would only use 'is' in your sentence: - As God is my witness, ...
However, I have also heard this on occasion: - With God as my witness, ... . . PS I'd also suggest this: - anyone in my family _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

Hi, Amy
Thanks for your correction and suggestion !
Answering your question, I heard this expression on the sitcom "Married with Children", but I must've a little misheard it. |

. Al Bundy is liable to say just about anything.
(But also keep in mind that it is not uncommon in spoken English for people to end up changing gears in mid-sentence, or to be thinking one thing while saying another with the end result that the two things can end up as an unintentional combination, etc.) . _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |
