| To me "blown away" means that you are overwhelmed or incredibly impressed by something. "Fed up" means that you are done taking it and you are ready to rebel. "pissed off" means being angry. |

"blown away" might also refer to being soundly defeated or shot:
"Tom blew away the competition." "The competition was blown away."
"I blew away the assassin with this .50 caliber rifle." "The assassin was blown away by a .50 caliber rifle." _________________ Billie Jean is not my lover. Hee. |

Thanks.. i think i now understand what does 'pissed off' means and how to use it.
But i still don't have clear idea about how and when to use 'blown away' and 'fed up'..
Can someone explain this to me with more examples?
Can i say: 1) He is my key competitor in the contest, and I am really blown away by his performance so far. 2) I was blown away by this amazing fireworks!/ This amazing fireworks did blow me away! 3) I am fed up with the work my boss assigned to me, I gotta come to him and say I can't take anymore.
Besides, how should i understand this sentence? 1) I am fed up with the MSc program. (Does it mean I hv already gone through the program, but found it very disappointed?)
thanks. |

Hello Runs,
You seem to be using the words correctly, however you do a have a few other minor grammar errors I'll correct.
Can I say:
1) He is my key competitor in the contest, and I am really blown away by his performance so far.
This sentence is fine as written. No problems with grammar, and the meaning of 'blown away' is used correctly. Note that using 'blown away' as you do here is more of a slang usage, but still correct.
2) I was blown away by this amazing fireworks!/ This amazing fireworks did blow me away!
You need to say 'these' instead of this.
I was blown away by these amazing fireworks. These amazing fireworks did blow me away.
You could also leave out 'did' and just say 'These amazing fireworks blow me away. It just depends if you want the 'did' in there for extra emphasis or not. However, notice that since fireworks could literally 'blow you away', there is sense of a joke or pun using 'blown away' with something that is literally explosive.
3) I am fed up with the work my boss assigned to me, I gotta come to him and say I can't take anymore.
I'd try and avoid writing 'gotta', although you'll hear it commonly spoken. Probably better to write 'got to'. Also, you need to say 'go to him' instead of 'come to him'. I'd also use the auxiliary verb 'have' with these sentence. Finally, I'd probably change 'say' to 'tell him'.
I am fed up with the work my boss assigned to me, I've got to go to him and tell him that I can't take anymore.
However, those are just some minor grammar points. The fact remains that you are correctly using the words you asked about, in terms of their meaning and the sense of their usage. _________________ Plan to be spontaneous tomorrow.
