When the Quarterback says Hut, Hut, Hike...where did the Hut, Hut originate from?

Dunno about the origin, but I think it means 'Get into position!' or 'Ready, steady, go!'

It's just a quick sudden sound, marking a specific moment. It has no meaning other than a declaration of that single specific moment when a football play is put in to motion.
