Hi,
Should we say 'education system' or 'educational system'?

Many thanks,

Hi Nessie,

I would use 'education system' since it means the mechanism used by an authority/ country or whatever to educate people. 'Educational' is more general and refers to matters related to 'education' as in: educational materials/books/magazines and so on.

Hi, nessie

I think "education system" sounds better in desrcript a system made up by schools and education institutions.

The word "educational system" made me feel like this:
A: how is the system?
B: fine, it is nice, knowledgeable and well educational.

No - something can be VERY educational, not "well educational"

Here is one way to remember the difference.
- She took out an eduction loan: the purpose of the loan was to pay for her education.

- She took out a loan without looking at the terms. When she had to make the payments, she was shocked, but at least she learned something about the borrowing process. In the end, her education loan was very educational for her about matters of finance. You would not say "She took out an educational loan" in most circumstances!

Hi Barb

After your pointing out, I get that I misunderstood the meaning of "educational".

Thanks a lot!

Hi Barb,

It's a matter of pond side or wood neck, here you can!

It's colloquial, and some kids think it's well cool :D

hi sooski
I'm not a master but just give you my standing.
When they mean "using electricity", I don't think they have many differences. As you know, one couldn't replace the other when electric means exciting.

So it's slang there now to use "well" to mean "very"?

Or has it moved beyond slang so that it's standard business English as well?

Hi Barb,

Surely nothing you'd write unless it's in an informal email or text message, but you hear (younger) people say it.

I saw the new Batman last night, and I thought it was well good. But my friends were well out of order as they just wouldn't stop talking.
