Hi Victor,
I just read your message and I think that your English it's good. I'm so sorry not able to say much about your country because I really don't know much about Russia, but now I will read a book about it, so I can describe what I think of your country.
You say that it's beautiful I'm sure it is, and you seem very happy to live there. I notice that some of your expressions are a little different than the expressions I hear in New York where I live. For example: Pity to say (I have never heard that expression sorry!) but I think what you are trying to say is that it's unfortunate that your English is not as good as you would like it to be. And that you want to move forward.
I'm happy for you that you enjoy many things, well a young man should be in sport, music, books and many more. We have one thing in common classic rock, I love it! Elvis Presley was and is my favorite singer.
One thing that I appreciate about you is your spirit of Christianity. I'm Catholic and church goer.
Keep on studying English, and if you can tell me about my English which I think it's quite simple.

Take care,

Rosario L.

Dear Torsten,

I think that I have finished lesson 21. I put my act together yesterday and this morning and I have wrote about Victor's message.
As I have mention in my message I don't know much about Russia, there fore I couldn't say much about his country, but I did my best to reply about it.
I would like to hear from you. What do you think of my English? I know that my spelling has to get better, thank God! I have spell check LOL!

Take care

Rosario

Hi.
The first thing that comes to my mind is 'Everything is Illuminated' (written by Safran Foer). I love this book (as well as film and soundtrack form this movie). Furthermore, my grandma was born in Iwano-Frankivs'k. I've never been there before and I have a dream to get there (and to Odesa) one day.
Greetings from Poland:)

Yeah, people like rumors #401 (permalink) Sat Apr 21, 2012 20:52 pm   Yeah, people like rumors

I think people just like to believe in make-believe stories, rumors and gossips. The best way to adopt any conclusion is by personally experiencing things. So instead of adopting someone else's conclusions, one should live the experience through and only then adopt a conclusion of their own. Also, people these days lack very little. If one would want to learn more say about Ukraine, they could Google something like "About Ukraine". There are good sites with plenty of information. Here is one: poltava travel. Also, try searching for things in Wikipedia.

Vodka and cabbage #402 (permalink) Sat Apr 21, 2012 20:59 pm   Vodka and cabbage

This is what a friend of mine from Connecticut once told me. That when people in Connecticut hear about Ukraine, they associate it with Vodka and cabbage. Like we have nothing else good :-)

Hi Viktor!
When I was young like you, I was interested to alpinism, and I knew some Ukraine's teams. There were strong and hurdy guys. And we worked as one team. This kind of sport was very poppular in Ukraine. I don't know how alpinism is poppular now.
But I am'not shure that Russians poison Viktor Yushchenko? Are you shure???
