Hi Victor I don't know very about Ukraine but Ukraine is a big country in east of Europe and I think Ukraine is a cold country with very lakes and mountains and beautiful people too. This capital is kiev and this president is Viktor Yushchenko. Ukraine is independence of Soviet union and has very Gas sources. |

Hamed, in fact Ukraine doesn't have much of gas. It only transits Russian and Turkmenian gas to Europe via pipelines which go through it's territory. _________________ Please do not hesitate to correct my language mistakes. |

Dear Victor,
Glad to meet you on the Forum. I am from Russia, Buryatia, Tunkinski region and live not too far from Lake Baikal. I know a lot of people from the Ukraine and a good deal of them live in our beautiful Tunkinskaya valley. You can look through my post and read more about me and my place. Since the relationship between our countries roots very deep into the past and, moreover, once upon the time we were a single nation, I know a lot of things about the Ukraine. There is no need to give you account about my knowledge but one thing is important to say: I think that the time is coming when we'll find an opportunity to cast away all our prejudice and narrow-mindedness of politicians don't prevent our people from getting closer than now. We and only we know how to get along with each other and ill advice from the 'third parties' will never stop the process of recovering our close ties. So I see the future of our countries in mutual understanding and cooperative neighbourhood.
Best regards,
Yuri _________________ Everything is Anything.

Well, that's not true. If you mean the "soviet nation" - it was just soviet propaganda not more than that. Soviet people were not melted into a single nation as for example Americans. That's why Soviet Union fell apart so easily.

Dear Someone,
When I said "we were a single nation" I meant the time more than a thousand years ago. That time there wasn't such a state as "the Ukraine" - there was Russia with Kiev as a capital city. Now Kiev is the capital of the Ukraine and Moscow is the capital of Russia. Did you happen to know this historical fact? Millions of Russians live in the Ukraine and millions of Ukrainians live in Russia. So we are blood brothers and sisters. There is no shovinistic mood among ordinary people of our nations and only some narrow-minded poliliticians try to re-write our history. But history is history and it cannot be re-written. I never trust in propaganda but I trust in historical facts and ordinary people. So, dear Someone, it is not too simple question and there is no use jumping into a quick conclusion. I sincerely believe that the Ukraine and Russia will develop in close friendship and mutual understanding. _________________ Everything is Anything.

Well, again you are wrong. It was not Russia. It was the first East Slavic state, Kievan Rus. The most powerful successor state to Kievan Rus' was Moscow. Moscow gradually reunified the surrounding Russian principalities and came to dominate the cultural and political legacy of Kievan Rus'. By the 18th century, the nation had greatly expanded through conquest, annexation and exploration to become the Russian Empire. You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia. So Kiev never was a capital city of Russia.
Of course we all are brothers, Yuri. As long as we all have the same predecessor from somwhere in Africa. _________________ Please do not hesitate to correct my language mistakes. |

Three favorite toys of my childhood were brought from Kiev by my grandmother. One was a cat, others were hedgehog and clown :)
A month ago when I came home , I couldn't see them at home. I asked my mother where my toys were :) She replied that, she had given them to grandson of neighbor. I sat and cried as my childhood was given to someone else :)
I really loved them!
