In my country, most people feel safe if they have a stable job with a company.

There are other people, however, who feel that a regular job is not secure, and they feel safer if they are self-employed.

What do you think is safer?

Hi Jamie,

I think this depends on the business field, line of work and the mentality of the person.

Certain jobs have a high turnover, like us teachers. This may be down to market forces or just burn out.

Personally safety is not why I am self employed. However I do know I have some control over that issue. This is down to how often I check the market, if I keep up with the market and how hard I work. Some of this is not so much in your control if you are an employee.

As mentioned before safety is not the issue for me, I like taking informed risks and do like the freedom that comes with being to a certain extent my own boss.
