Hey, thanks, Alex!
Should be interesting, though, to see whether I'm technologically adept enough to manage that. The first challenge will be to see if I can figure out whether I've actually got SP4 on this thing. . |

You're welcome, Amy !
And to check if you've got SP4, go to "My Computer" -> Properties, a window will open up with tabs, and on one of the tabs you should be able to see what SP you've got installed :) |

Hi Amy,
How are you getting along with your Chrome testing project? By the way, I've just noticed something pretty interesting: When I use the Firefox address bar to type in a keyword and hit "enter", Yahoo is launched and shows me its search results. In the previous Firefox version, you could not use the address box to search keywords. You had to enter an existing URL or else you got an error message. Now the address bar functions as a search box too. The first time I saw this feature was with Chrome. It seems that Firefox and Chrome are quite similar in their functionality. However, what strikes me as strange is that the Firefox address bar is connected to Yahoo and not to Google.
Anyone noticed this too? Thanks, Torsten _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

| You know what Torsten, when I first tried Chrome, I gave it a shot searching by typing in keywords into the address bar because Chrome doesn't have the toolbar feature (and therefore I couldn't find any search box which I could have used when searching from a website). I am a bit impressed, because this feature is a must if they want to create free toolbar window, which is quite messy sometime, if you have too many of them. |

Hi Torsten
I'm not sure why your version of Firefox takes you to Yahoo, because mine (version 3.0.1) takes me to Google when I type in a keyword in the address bar.
No, I haven't tried Chrome yet. . |

Hi Amy,
I didn't know we had this feature too on Firefox. I tried it and it gave me the search results.
And Torsten, I think it connected to Yahoo because I downloaded Firefox under the recommendation of Yahoo, but I think this can be easily changed, if you prefer Google, just make Google your main search engine. No biggy.
I have Safari, Chrome and IE on my PC but I use Firefox mainly. I like IE second and am not really crazy about Safari. I better check out IE 8.0, I moved to Firefox before because of the add-ons.
Have a nice day everybody!

Hi Amy,
I have the same Firefox version like you -- 3.0.1 and I have no clue why its address bar is connected to Yahoo as opposed to Google... _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Jamie, the one thing that I like about Safari is, contrast to other browsers, the highlights are in blue on a white page. I think this is more friendly to the eyes because it is easier to read black fonts with blue highlights than to read white fonts on a greenish gray background.
But this is just a personal preference of mine, I have a habit of highlighting paragraphs when I read them. I just discovered this. ;) |

I've read that unless you choose "Incognito" mode, or switch off AutoSuggest, your keystrokes on Chrome may be collected and stored by Google, together with your IP. Apparently this happens even if you don't press return.

Hi Torsten,
Refer to: http://www.byteswired.com/2007/09/10/change-default-search-engine-on-firefox/ for the instruction to make our favorite Google search engine be the default one. My "keyword.URL" is "http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=".
By the way, I've just tried Google Chrome for a week. It looks fast but I don't think it's much faster than Firefox anyway. I'm switching back to Firefox since my PC is hang up sometimes, I don't know why. It was very okay before installing Google Chrome so the new browser would be the one... sorry to say that... I don't know how soon Google can give us the final release of Chrome as Google likes Beta anyway (like GoogleTalk is an example....).
Hope you have fun with your new browser. |

Hi Alex and Torsten
Well, I've attempted to install Google Chrome, but every time I try to start the program it crashes. :(
So, I guess I'll be sticking with Firefox for now. . |

Slava has just told me that yesterday Google released the Beta version of their own browser called Chrome. Since we both are big Google fans, we installed this new program to test it. So far, it looks and feels great! What about you, have you heard of Chrome too? What is your favourite Internet browser?
Many thanks, Torsten |
My favourite Internet browser is, of course, Mozilla Firefox! Firefox has many useful and interesting add-ons which makes it highly customizable :D This is what I love most from Firefox... Currently I'm using Firefox 3.0 with bunch of add-ons and themes... LOL As we all know, Firefox browser got a Google search plug-in in it, so every time I want to search for anything, I just need to open my Firefox and type in the keyword(s)...
I'm currently using Google Chrome as well, tried it last week if I'm not mistaken... I don't think it has any significant differences with Firefox, except for that "incognito" feature I discovered when I customized some settings in Chrome... I mostly use Chrome in conjunction with Firefox, when I need to do lots of research or fact finding...
For me, Chrome is merely a Firefox + Google search plug-in... and the problem is I can't bookmark anything (I'm using Foxmark to consolidate all of my bookmarks, so it will be cumbersome if I want to bookmark anything I found in Chrome). It was also impossible to "undo closed tab(s)" in Chrome... this is quite unnerving if I'm opening so many tabs and accidentally close any of them. phew... Up till now, I think Firefox 3.0 is quite accomodative for me... besides, I still found some flaws (bugs) in Chrome which made me find Chrome somehow a bit unappealing... maybe someday when Chrome has improved the beta version significantly I'll consider using Chrome as my main browser... 8) |

| Mozilla Firefox RULES!!! It's my favourite browser either :) Chrome is already dowloaded and it seems to be really good! Especially that function of "incognito" is something new and interesting. |
