Hello Laura, my name is Nikola and I live in Skopje, Macedonia, I was born in this city and I live in this city all my life. Macedonia in the past was a country which was part of a federation of six other republics in the Socialist Federative Republic of Macedonia and that's how I get familiar with the other two official languages of this federation, Serbian and Croation language. I can speak these languages almost like my native Macedonian language, but they only have local usage, here in the balkans region. That's why I started to learn English, I wanted to have universal tool for communication with the world.

I'm preparing to take the TOEFL test now, and I found that this site has everything that I need to success in my task. I'm a self-learner, I study at home, I never had a chance to educate myself as I wanted, from A to Z, so this gives me a chance at least once in my life to accomplish my dream, to educate myself, and to be usefull to others by doing intellectual tasks. I explored my self and found that this is the area in which I can give maximum and be usefull for other people by intermediating between different cultures with different languages. Translation is my goal.

I was doing lot of volontary work just to acquire more experience, and during this period I've learned the so called blind technique, typing without looking at the keyboard. This is not the same technique that you use when you type but the process is similar, the technique usues memorasing the position of the letters on the keyboard and transfers this position into the subcouncious of the typer, than connect the fingers with specific letters and than implements a lot of vocabulary into the subcouncious by training or repeating a lot of words in english. That's how I fulfilled my vocabulary without notice. I must mention that even if this technique is called blind technique which in many people can produce a feeling that this is a technique for handucapped persons, I realized that this is the most efficient technique of typing, and that eyes in this case serve only as proof reading tool.

Life path took me away from the standard educational processes, standard education stages, high-school, university, I never had a chance to attend this process like anyone else. But the wish for education never diminished, I'm 36 now but I still feel the same excitement when I learn something new as I felt when I was in primary school and for the first time read a book.

I never had a chance so far to speak with someone who is blind in eyes, but when I've read your post I felt a need to tell you something. Laura, maybe you are blind with your eyes, but definitely you are not blind in your mind. Many people have eyes but they are blind in their mind, maybe eyes can give lot of visual impressions from the outside world, but they also can give big ilussions and often can cause big mistakes if they are the only perception of the reality. Seeing with the mind is the ultimate perception of reality. Eyes can lie sometimes.

I admire people who can still express the product of their thinking, who can still think with their own head, who can ignore the illusions that modern technology developed as a way to influence people through their eyes, tv, movies, advertisements e.t.c.

I will be very happy if you find some free time and reply to my post. I'm 36 now and I still hope that one day I will realise my dream and become a translator. My moto is better ever than never.

I just read your post. I know it is dated of september and I am late but you may still want to communicate with others people on this site.

My name is Clémence and I am french. I live in the suburbs of Paris. Soon I will be flying to Australia, to travel, take a break and, if that is possible, to finish the master I began in France last year (I passed the first year). In fact, I am supposed to leave in march but it seems to be more complicated and longer than I thought to obtain the different papers you need to get into the territory.
Although I have been studying english for many years, I don't speak very well english (apparently, that is particularly a french thing, we are bad in teaching and learning foreign langages).So I won't be able to help you at all (but, as far as I'm concerned, I think you do very good). On your side, if you remark mistakes or if you can't understand what I am writting, do not hesitate to tell me.

In few weeks, I 'll take an exam that access my english level. It is quite the same thing as the TOEFL, but it,is named IELTS and it is done by the british council. So I do really need to practice!

In short, I would like to develop my ability to talk about everything with anyone!

So, Laura, if you still are interessed..it would be a pleasure to "talk" to you. Of course it concerns everyone.
