Is the usage of - "HAD ASKED" correct in this context? #1 (permalink) Wed Sep 10, 2008 1:47 am   Is the usage of - "HAD ASKED" correct in this context?

Our client (name - X) asked us to re-send the results of our testing effort on last friday.
I sent them the day itself.
On Wednesday, my Manager asked me what happened to those results of our testing.
My reply was this "She had asked about the results. So, I sent them again"
Here, "HAD ASKED" is correct?
Even though we were discussing about the results, there is no thing to do with the results right now, and the whole thing was over on this Monday.
Is - HAD ASKED - okay
or
Should I have answered like "She asked" (eliminating HAD)

Thanks for your help,
Suresh

Hi Suresh

The past perfect was not really necessary. The order of the past events would be clear without it. The word "so" indicates that "I sent them again" was the result of "She asked me..."

But don't worry -- it's also OK the way you said it.
