Hi,

Is it true that the vast majority of all ESL learners are rather disappointed with the progress they are making? In other words, are there winners and losers in the ESL world?

Have you heard many sources which state that it is true?

Here's one dissatisfied customer:

As for TEFLese, I wouldn't know how to define it. Giving an opinion based on my horrible experience, I might define it as "Simplified English with emphasis on written English, fixed rules that must be followed, and total boredom coming from the teaching method." In other words, learning the TEFLese I described, you'll never actually learn anything... You'll never be an advanced learner, never.

I think becoming a winner is always within the realms of possibility. The problem with the so-called losers is the lack of stickability.

Are there winners and losers in the world of ESL?

Of course there are. Many have came as complete novices, and through their dedication and with a lot of patience and effort, have left here very capable English speakers.

Winning doesn't come easy. It is difficult and frustrating, but it is your decision to be here.

Now that you are here, just what do you intend to do.? Are you going to learn a few basics, and then decide it is too much trouble, or are you going to take up the challenge and do it.?

If you choose to do the former, then we wish you good luck, and bid you a friendly farewell.

If you choose the latter, then we will treat you like new recruits in the military. We will teach you, help you, encourage you , shout at you, laugh at you........ whatever it takes to get you through, but you will emerge as the complete package, a true Brit.

So make your decision. Winner or loser.? It's in your hands now. We will do all that we can to get you through, but you have to put the same amount of effort in too.!

Kitosdad.

Good morning Sahid.

A true Brit.
A true gent.
A true hero.

Just general comments. The first being incomplete as you say. Never have seen or heard the completed word. ( An Englishman, through and through probably. )

Bill.
