. I'm not sure that I fully understand your question, but no one could say 'I've been killed', because if so, they would be unable to talk.
These are correct:

Some times, i can not understand which one is correct.
- He is ON the list - The next person IN our list is...
Please install the software ON the machine -- OR -- Please install the software IN the machine
I have heard these on english news channels.

. Some contexts are grammatically unsettled or are open to different viewpoints.
- He is ON the list-- This is the usual. - The next person IN our list is...-- This is possible but not usual.
Please install the software ON the machine -- OR -- Please install the software IN the machine -- Any language related to IT and computers is still developing and very fluid. Either of these prepositions will work here.
