Hi,
Publicity event? Info event sounds a bit unEnglish to me.

Hi Alan,
That's exactly what I thought too. It actually might be best to simply leave the "Informationsveranstaltung" and just say that the participants (or whoever) got briefed about something. "Informationsveranstaltung" might another German term that is difficult to translate into English.

What about 'kick-off seminar' or just 'kick-off'?

There is an education and training provider (Bildungsträger) which primarily offers publicly funded training courses. Before the start a course, the usually invite all participants/prospects to a seminar/meeting the purpose of which is to give them all necessary information and introduce the program.

Hi Torsten
I'd only use "kick-off" if all of the people attending were already registered participants.
If the people attending are prospective participants, then you might call it an "Informational Event", for example. That is one term I've seen used. . _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |
