Hi everyone,

I copy this question from a Chinese English forum, think it's an ambiguous question and wanna get helps from you guys.

First of all, I have no idea about the meaning of "thourgt obesity" and just could guess that it means a action occurred in the past.

Admittedly, I know that both "for many years, Asians have thourgt obesity" and "in 1900, Asians thourgt obesity" would be grammatically correct. But in this situation shown in the title, which prep. is more suitable?

Thx and regards

Richard

Hi Richard,

I would suggest the word you want is 'fought' -past (participle) of 'fight'. This suggest that they have tried hard to avoid being 'obese' or 'overweight'.

Hi Alan,
Is 'in' acceptable in this case?

Many thanks,
Nessie.

No. "In many years" means "many years from now."
