Hi,

Which one of the following sentences is more appropriate?

1. I think the fastest way to compile this information is that everybody replies to this email with all his contact details.

2. I think the fastest way to compile this information is to have everybody reply to this email with all his contact details.

Thanks,

MG.

Hi MM,
Will the sentence be OK if we use subjunctive mood?
I think the fastest way to compile this information is that everybody reply to this email with all his contact details.

Many thanks,
Nessie.

That crossed my mind too, Nessie-- but then I decided that I just did not like #1.

Hi Musicgold,

I think the choice has to be based on balance - the fast way to ... is to. In other words you choose two infinitives. For that reason I would choose (2).

I also don't think #1 is correct, but do you think my sentence is correct? (subjunctive mood).

Many thanks,
Nessie.
