Hi,
You are right if you suggest that you can't tell whether in your sentences the verb is past or present (into a/the bag). The only way you can tell the difference is from how they (the sentences) are used in a context.

Hi, how I can differentiate these sentences are past(simple) or present(simple) ? I cut the vegetables. I put my things into bag. |
By saying to the speaker "When?". |

Molly, Teacher asked to write a Example of past simple form, I wrote 'I cut the vegetables'. Then she asked to write a Example of present simple form, I wrote 'I cut the vegetables'. Is it clear? |

And you were correct in both instances. So what's the problem? The teacher gave you the "context" in each case, so nobody had a problem distinguishing, did they? |
