Hi, I have a doubt about using 'did'. I heard it is more surety when using did.
Example: I went there.
I did go there.
Is it formal? Any native speakers use second one?

"I did go," can be used at every level of English, from very formal all the way down to very informal. As Molly, say's it's emphatic.

Generally, but not always, we use it when we are contradicting someone. If someone says something like, "I doubt that you went," we might answer, "I did go!" to emphasize that the opposite is true.

Another way is "I did like that dress you had on last night", which is similar to "I really liked that dress" and "I liked that dress a lot".
