In his current newsletter issue Alan talks about how times have changed at Wimbledon, why tennis has become an international sport and what kind of impact 'haste' has on our lives.

What about you? I mean, how 'fast' is your life? And how do you like More haste, less speed?

Thanks a lot,
Torsten

More haste, less speed. #2 (permalink) Mon Sep 22, 2008 14:40 pm   More haste, less speed.

Dear Torsten, all teachers and learners.
If I had to describe myself, I would not consider myself more of a hare or tortoise, because I think differently. I believe that the world change more fast than we can imagine. So, If we want to live our presence and future, we must behave en a way to reach our goals in the adequate time and it is preferable if we can do it in less time with the same quality.
I think if we do not learn every day and try to know almost new in our life, we will find our self, one day, in the margin before our oldness.

I ask you to correct my mistakes if I have made any

Best regards.
Abdelhamid

Hello, everybody.
My life is a life of a married woman: fast but routine. Especially at the beginning of the academic year. But I like it. I prefer running round like a squirrel in a cage to sitting at home with nothing to do when you don't know how to entertain yourself. I go to work every day (sometimes even on Saturdays - that's my timetable). If I have nothing to do (that happens VERY seldom) I feel nervous.

Dear Torsten:

I like to use paradoxes in my writing. This is why I would like to be a hare with a tortoise soul. I mean... I feel like going to and fro like the wind, but I think it is a good idea to come to a halt from time to time too. Why do not we take a nice deep slow breath to slow down our daily rhythm? I like thinking about the meaning of life every single day of my existence, but I like to hit the road at the same time aimlessly...

Best regards,
Enrique Muñoz

a hare or a tortoise #5 (permalink) Tue Sep 23, 2008 12:11 pm   a hare or a tortoise

dear torsten,

i believe that we can not neither rule out a 'hare' or 'tortoise' , when it comes to our attitudes and behaviour in life. it all depends on the particular situation. sometime the hare will save you from a certain dismissal from your job. the tortiose can be handy at times. i would sometime play the role of a hare and somtime that of tortoise.

Dear Torsten,
I enjoyed reading the newsletter. I think smart people adapt themselves to situations. There is a proverb in sanskrit which conveys the meaning that "Even the divine elixir(amrita) will turn into poison if we delay to drink it" . So, I allot the required time to do the job. Neither very fast ,nor very slow( little of the Hare, little of the tortoise and more of myself). I am learning a lot from you tests.
Thanks a lot!

Interesting story #7 (permalink) Tue Sep 23, 2008 13:16 pm   Interesting story

Hi Torsten,

How are you doing today? Thank you for the nice story. I have heard it before and surely all the animals in the Aesop's fables represent people. So, what can I say about myself? I think sometimes I behave like the hare and other times I am the tortoise it depends on the circumstances.I'd want to be more organised. Regarding learning a foreign language I think is better to be like the tortoise. The moral is appropriate and I noticed that fine goals are necessary to keep the interest and to be successful.

Have a great day,
Ecaterina

more haste, less speed #8 (permalink) Tue Sep 23, 2008 15:06 pm   more haste, less speed

Hello Torsten,

It is difficult to relate myself with any one of two animals. My temparement and behaviour depends upon the situation. There are so many factors that decide someone's behaviour and temparament. For example when I was between 20-25 yrs of age , I was more like a hare but now I am more like a tortoise. Again, If I go to the kitchen I mess everything because I dont like cooking and because of that I try to finish my work as soon as possible which ultimately ends with mess all over in the kitchen. It depends upon my interest also. If I am interested in doing something, I will behave like a hare otherwise a tortoise. Smile

I am sorry for my broken English. I need your help in writing good English. I hope you and other members will help me out with my weak English problem.

tks n regards to everyone!

I think I have both Harry and Tommy behavior as far as I calculate. But one thing I can not judge exactly is that which part of me is more of Harry's and which of Tommy's. I get influenced fast. I am loyal to one whom I stay with.

Please comment on my writing

I can describe my self as a tortoise because fast climbers make sudden falls.
Slow by sure, it is better to be slow but making a correct thing than to be fast and make mistakes.

Progress report / TOP 100. #12 (permalink) Thu Sep 25, 2008 0:46 am   Progress report / TOP 100.

Dear Torsten, all teachers and learners.

Yes, I am on your top 100 List. My user name on the list is Abdelhamid and I use the forum since 18 July 2008. When you preferred use my email name holsts, which is a street's name in Oslo, the Norway's capital, I wouldn’t correct to you because I thought that holsts is easier, for you, than Abdehamid.

So, if you don’t mind, you should remember that my name is Abdelhamid and call me with it in your emails.

Best regards.

Hy!
I like fables and this one is very good example of our rushing world.
I think I'm like the tortoise because I'm slow but when I do something I do it well. But I think this is not good to be always as a tortoise because sometimes circumstances require speed. I even feel sometimes that I can't follow things that happen around me and than I feel nervous. I would like to be different sometimes maybe to have results in a shorter time but one's character can't change from a day to the other day.

Julia
