'hardly' never means doing something 'very hard'. He is hardly working = He is barely working. (Not 'he doesn't work very often' which would be 'he works infrequently'.) 'working hardly' is the wrong word order. He is working hard = He is working with a great deal of effort. _________________ Cheers m' dears!
