This is an extract from an article which talks about what is expected of students on certain design courses:

"Literal images and explanations are discouraged and students are to think about analogies, metaphors and new relationships. This exercise pushes studentstodelve deeper into divergent ideas through writing and they forgo any preconceived ideas."

Regarding the three underlined comments, do you expect the same from yourself and others when speaking about English use and usage?
