What are you like? vs What do you look like? #1 (permalink) Mon Sep 22, 2008 15:47 pm   What are you like? vs What do you look like?

Hi!

I'd like to know what the difference is between "what are you look like? and What do you look like?.
I'm looking for the right one if you want to know the physical description of someone, hair, eyes, lengh and so on.

Thanks

Your question doesn't match the title of this thread. Have a quick look at them.

Both these can be used to ask about physical appearance:

What are you like?
What do you look like?

And, "What are you like?" can also be used to talk about character.

In order to ask only about concrete physical characteristics (such as those you mentioned), use "What do you look like?"
