Why is the correct answer "to hearing" and not "to hear"? Look forward to hearing sounds very strange to me, maybe it's wrong?

Hi Igor,

In addition to Alan's explanation you might want to read Looking forward to hearing from you and Common mistake in English: Look forward to hear from you.

Now I really look forward to hearing from you.
