TOEFL® Writing Section

Hello,
I took the exam last week and I have a doubt regarding the writing section. In the integrated part, I didn't mention the reading and the lecture explicitly. But I related and compared the information on both of them. Is that I problem?

For example, instead of writing "The passage claims that...", I wrote "The adepts of the new technology claim that..."

Hi!

In my opinion, the book that comes closest to the actual exam is still "The Official Guide to the TOEFL IBT" published by the ETS group. You can check amazon.com which ships to almost any country all over the world.

I think there's no problem with not writing "The passage claims..." to introduce each contrasting idea as long as the reader is able to follow or understand your points. To be safe, it is better to inform your reader in your introduction/ first paragraph that you are actually about to compare a passage and a lecture, and so the reader can just follow along as you discuss further.
