Hi Volcano
The part of your sentence that says "that from where" is a problem grammatically. I might suggest this as a rewording:
If the company had never declared to the world where the original idea came from, they would have probably been granted the patent. _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

If the company had never declared to the world where the original idea was got/obtained/gained from, the company would probably have taken the patent

Hi Volcano
You could use "was obtained from". As for the rest of the sentence, it's got some awkward spots. I tried to suggest something that sounded more natural.
For example, why did you want to use "take the patent"? That sounded odd to me. . _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

Hi Volcano
Using "get" (would have gotten) with "patent" would be OK, but it's more informal/less businesslike than using "grant" (would have been granted). . _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

Hi Volcano,
Is there a reason why you always use bold text in your messages?
Thanks, Torsten

How about this?
If the company had never revealed the source of the original idea to the world, they would probably have been granted the patent.
BTW, what's the difference between "grant a patent" and "award a patent"? |
