Hi KLPNO
Anecdotal evidence of something is very casual, unscientific "evidence", often based on nothing more than someone claiming to have seen something.
Your text suggests that anecdotal evidence exists, but that skeptics/scientists need more than just anecdotal evidence in order to have actual proof. In other words, actual proof must be more substantial than (must go beyond) anecdotal evidence. . |

I agree, and here is a fine example of such evidence:
