Hello,
Please explain , why is the differencein the use of preposition
1) I go to school.
2) I go home.

why "go to" is not used in the second sentence. :o

#2 is exceptional, like here and there. There are 3 forms:

I go to the market / to the office / to the theatre.

I go to school / to church / to work.

I go home / here / there

Thank you for this but it's still too difficult for me. Why is not "I go to the school"? Is it just an exception?

I go to school = I am a student; I attend a school
I go to the school = I attend a specific or previously mentioned school.

Yes. The rule is: 'home' is not preceded by 'to'.

I was sent home.
I went home.
I came home.
I wrote home.

Directions of the compass, e.g. go north.
go places

Can't think of more at the moment.
