TOEFL essay: What is your approach to problem-solving, and how does it work? #1 (permalink) Tue Oct 07, 2008 22:18 pm   TOEFL essay: What is your approach to problem-solving, and how does it work?

Hi Alan...Can you check my essay? best regards
TOPIC: What is your approach to problem-solving, and how does it work for you? Use specific details to support your response.

There are lots of strategies that people follow while solving a problem. And these strategies change from person to person.
When people face with a problem, first group carries out the first solution that comes to their mind, and second group thinks about the problem first, arranges the materials of solution then, and tries the choices one by one and finally finds the best solution and carries out it for the problem. My problem solving technique is just like the second group's strategy.
The most important part of solving a problem is determining the problem first. In this part you understand the problem correctly and you prepare your mind for the right problem that is faced at that time. Arranging materials about the solution comes then. In this part you take all knowledge about the problem together and you arrange the knowledge group by group. Then you create many numbers of solutions that you can and you try each solution for the problem. You put aside the advantages, and the benefits of each solutions. And finally you select one solution that best fits the problem and takes more benefit.
Think about that you will go to a vacation next week. You will have a road of 500 mıles to go and you have a limited amount of money to spent for your trip. This can be an example of solving a problem by the method I choose. First you have to decide about the transportation part of the trip. Will you go by bus or by your own car? If you go to vacation by yourself, of course you will choose going by bus. This will be more cheaper. Then you will choose staying in a five-star-hotel or in a small hotel. In this part of the problem you must decide how many days you want to stay. You will subtract the transportation fee from total money. Then you will divide it by the day number you want to stay. The number you find will be your money that you can give to hotel per day. You will decide to choose a five-star-hotel or a small hotel then.
As we see in the example, by this method you can easily find the solution about transportation and hotel choosing.
