Hello Dear Eirene,

according to me you have written a very good and easy to understand definition of weather forecast and weather report..

actually, I knew the basic difference between these two terms but I couldn't write it down in easy words as you did my friend...

Thanks,

weather report vs weather forecast

Hello,

What is the exact difference between “weather forecast” and weather report”, please?

Not long ago, I received my English lesson from Mr. Torsten Daerr, and he instructed me to post my question in this forum. Therefore, I would like know the exact answer to the question because I am uncertain about the answer even though I have looked the two terms up in English-test.net. I treated the two words, forecast and report, as nouns, so I presume the following are correct:
1. n. forecast-prediction of a future event or condition (i.e. development of the economy)
http://www.english-test.net/toeic/vocabulary/meanings/171/toeic-test.php

2. Definition of report (noun) -detailed account of an occurrence or situation
http://www.english-test.net/toeic/vocabulary/words/029/toeic-definitions.php#report

Thank you.

Best wishes,

Dear Torsten,

You asked me if I know the difference between the weather forecast and weather report, well I think that weather forecast means, how the weather is going to be tomorrow and next week, and weather report is what is happening in the present.
thanks.

As far as i know, the weather report is the information about actual weather (wind speed and direction, temperature, about precipitations, pressure, humidity and so on). Actual weather is a weather wich is now outside your house or was several hours ago.
Wheather forecast is a weather which is expected by meteorologists in the future (forcast for tomorrow, for the day after tomorrow, and so on). They predict wheather using special maps, satellite pictures and many other sources.
I hope this information will be usefull and clear for you.
