"Professor Moore's friend recommended that book to him highly."
I can't find the definition of the phrase "book to" in the dictionary (Oxford dict). Help me to explain it!

what dose this sentence mean? #2 (permalink) Wed Oct 15, 2008 4:46 am   what dose this sentence mean?

Hi Thang

You "recommend something to someone". In your sentence "something" = "that book".

So Professor Moore's friend basically told him very enthusiastically that the book was good, or that he should get the book.
