Hi, Alan. I've read your essay and I liked it a lot. But the problem is that you tried to skip from one topic to another. that's why it was a bit difficult to get the point. I had to re-read some paragraphs although all the words were familiar to me.

I'm from Ukraine. The style of explaining the rules or grammar materials by our teachers differs greatly from yours. But I like your style more. Really.

Hello Torsten and Alan,

No one word seems to be enough to explain my happiness when I receive your wonderful lessons. Thank you so much.
As for Alan's story, it's very interesting, I should say What is more you used lots of idioms. Everything is clear but I don't think that the English are tacuturn. Is it really so? As for your politeness, I know about it. Even I ask my pupils to be polite as the English. To tell the truth, we seldom use such words as sorry, apologise.

Regards,

Hi
I like Alan Towned's essay, he started with a simple word "sorry" which we've been using in daily life. We say all the time to express our feeling that we are sorry. However, I read many times to get his point, but I still not sure about the last sentence " So let's all raise our glasses( full water of course) and drink to their health cheers,
thanks

Hello!
Woww! This was a long e-mail, right? I found a little difficult to understand it all, but, despite say "I'm sorry", I think the expression "I didn't mean to do that, honestly" very good. Here in Brazil we usually answer to an apology with expressions like "thatīs fine" or at least with a look of understanding to end the situation.

Morning sir

I am so happy to read the essay like this because I find it most important ,and it is helpful to get the new vocabulary as new words to me what I noticed that there are some words I don't understand the meaning.Otherwise i would like to list them, then you will give me the mean.for instance,as unsung, huge ,please to accept thousand apologies, earthy humble pie ,diarist, kettle of fish, spare part, trolleys and i will let things
