why is the form "is wishing" used in this sentence:
Professor Marvin wishes you. Professor Marvin is wishing me what?

It is passage from some text or book. I found that when verbs of attitude - wish, hope, love, like, prefer, want... occur in progressive, it emphasizes temporariness or tentativeness. But in this case I don't understand it
