Test No. errors/elem-4 "Present Tense", question 10

I try to remember your name but I'm afraid I can't remember it.

(a) I try
(b) remember
(c) can't

Test No. errors/elem-4 "Present Tense", answer 10

I'm trying to remember your name but I'm afraid I can't remember it.

Correct entry: I'm trying
The error was: (a) I try

You have found the error but your entry is incorrect.
I am trying to remember your name but I'm afraid I can't remember it.

Both are fine. I'm trying is simply a contraction of I am trying.

Why "I am trying" is not a correct answer? Grammatically it is correct and there are many situations which the sentece "I am trying to remember your name" is used.

yeah. i know that. but sometimes i think ppl use "doing" more!
e.g. i will be missing you. how have you been doing?

i think its focus on the things last. english grammar is also hard..
