Hi, have you ever used RottenNeighbor.com -- either to check how good are bad your neighborhood might be or to post comments about your neighbors? I've just checked the neighborhood we are moving into by the end of the year and so far it looks pretty good ;-)...

Nope Amy, staying in Leipzig for the time being. Are you trying to say that most rotten neighbors live in the US?

Hi Torsten

No, not at all. It just sounded like it might be a site that focused on the US, and I thought you might be planning to broaden your horizens, so to speak. ;)

I can only think of one "bad neighbor" I've ever had, and that was back in about 1981. Fortunately, I was only renting the house I lived in, and the company I was working for transferred me out of the area within a year. So I didn't have to put up with my very strange neighbor for too long. Otherwise, I'd say I've had a lot of very good neighbors.

What I can imagine happening on a site like RottenNeigbors is whenever there is some kind of petty neighborhood squabble, somebody will post something. I can also imagine "spam" posting. On the other hand, if you own your house and think you might want to sell it someday, you'd be crazy to write anything but good stuff about your neighbors -- even if you have a neighbor who's absolutely awful.

I have a friend in the company (XO) who works in Salt Lake City. He and I frequently chat over Internet Messenger (IM). Today I noticed this topic heading, so I decided to check out the site. I found the "Movies" and "Pictures" sections hilarious so, knowing my pal's sense of humor, I notified him of the site. He also guffawed, and we spent roughly 4-5pm Central discussing our favorite parts over IM.

In one of the movies, an elderly fella accuses his subdivision's supervisors of being Communists because they asked him to move his yellow ribbon from a porch post to his front door. I'm as anti-Communism a person as they come, but in this case the supervisors were only upholding the yellow-ribbon-posting rules of their condo association. Communists indeed!

(In the US, people decorate their homes/cars with a yellow ribbon to show support for US military personnel.)
