Good day, everyone!!
I studied German too ... and inspite of its unbelievable long words this language is stiil easier than Russian. You can follow spelling and grammar rules and understand them, but the Russian language is rather a language of exceptions What do you think of this idea? It's really interesting because I also had experience in training Russian to foreigners.
Now let's come back to English! and my students. As I have written they're adults...
According to motivation aspect I would divide them into 2 groups - 1 are those who mostly have to study, the others want to learn the language. The first group includes employees of foreign companies that provide them with corporate English lessons. Today plenty of English training schools open in Moscow and Russia in general. Obviously the branch for corporate education is very popular and profitable.
However with such students the trainer should work hard on motivation level. Studying becomes obligatory, but not all students get interested in it.
More enjoyable classes for me are those with the 2nd group. These students initiate learning themselves thus they are highly motivated and more responsible. The main reason for studying is usually need to use English for work, to improve their knowledge.
Actually training centres are so popular these days due to the fact that a lot of foreign companies offer work in Russia and we have to know and use international business language every day. Is it the same in Germany?
