TOEFL® essay: Never, never give up?

Whenever we were facing challenges, such saying as 'failure gives birth to success' came into our minds. It already seems to be a moral standard to judge a person who whether has strong wills or not from this way. What we should admit is that persistence usually brings good ending, but in other cases it will be a waste of time if we keep trying. Hence, learn to stop at the proper moment is another kind of wisdom. This essay will illustrate why we need to reconsider before repeating the same action.

Sometimes, another choice may have the same result or even better. It is the final goal we are longing for that motivates us to overcome all the obstructions in front of us. To some extent, we place high value on an ideal ending rather than the process towards it. Thus, if there exists other approaches, why not try it. We may quote a simple example that you need not to learn swimming to cross a river because you can take a boat. It is unwise to spend time practicing swimming if we only want to land on the opposite bank.

Retreating at the right time enhance your ability of viewing a problem from other perspectives. Hardly had an eminent general made a temporary compromise before the final victory reached. During the period of withdrawing, a fantastic blueprint may come into being on the basis of reconsidering the strategy in the battlefield. Therefore, don't loose confidence when you get stuck at the beginning. It is a precious chance to think deeply about a question while you will be more experienced in making decision.

Moreover, the current hard situation for you may turn out to be an impossible task. If so, the only way you can resort to is giving up early. History abounds with the instance that we human were chasing impossible goals. For example, many great emperors in ancient time were interested in finding a medicine to make them immortal. It is obviously proved that they only having good dreams which can never be achieved.

All the indisputable evidence piles up to view that we can change ways in reality to reach our goals. Nobody will be critic if you get to your destination from other legal approach. Because world is always changing, we should adapt accordingly.
