Acronym vs. abbreviation #2 (permalink) Fri Oct 31, 2008 7:58 am   Acronym vs. abbreviation

So LASER is acronym.

How are they are forming abbreviation?

Yes, the word 'laser' is an acronym. As for your question, what exactly do you mean? Do you want to know how abbreviations are formed? That's quite simple. For example, FBI, CIA, USA, BBC, CNN are all abbreviations. An abbreviation is made up of letters which are not pronounced as one word but as single letters.

Let me know if this makes sense.
Thanks,
Torsten
