Hi, I'm Jan from New Zealand #1 (permalink) Fri Oct 31, 2008 22:30 pm   Hi, I'm Jan from New Zealand

I joined the forum a while ago, when I first became an English teacher and while I was living in England. I don't have a lot of time to go online but I certainly find the forum both interesting and helpful, and it also gives me an insight into what my students might find confusing. And very often gives me the answers to questions I hadn't even thought about!

Since qualifying, I have taught in UK, Algeria and New Zealand, where I am now living. I really love teaching and, although I spend far too much time doing prep (I thought that would lessen with time - wrong!) I can't see myself doing anything else. I find that, even though I'm a native speaker of English, I am constantly learning and having to think outside the box. There are not always hard and fast rules and it seems that there are always exceptions to the rules that there are!

Love the forums and the lesson ideas - keep up the good work!

Hi Jayklylam, and welcome to the forum.

I am always very happy when native speakers join this forum and your case is no exception. I hope that we will be able to benefit a lot from your experience and expertise. Please tell me how you find English in New Zealand different than English in England.
