A Chinese teacher of English tells me that so-so is the short form of "so far so good."
Is that true?

Hi Sitifan,

To throw some light on this I would suggest that 'so far, so good' indicates that up till now good progress has been made. So-so indicates to me not particularly good and not particularly bad. It could be an answer to: How are you? If you reply: Oh, so-so, this would mean that you are all right but not really in the very best of health.

Hi Sitifan and everyone,

Nice to meet you here. I found out that there's another Taiwanese, who posts so many questions of English on this forum accidentally. I simply say hello to you becuase I am also a Taiwanese like you. Moreover, this forum is very fabulous, isn't?

Greetings!

Maggie^^
