Hi,
Please have a look at this:

First lady:
'a woman who is considered to be
Quote:
the very best
at a particular thing'

=> I found this in the Longman Dictionary. Is the bold phrase right or wrong?

Many thanks,
Nessie.

Although "the best" is a superlative, the phrase "the very best" is commonly used to add emphasis to just how good something is.
