well: I dont thing laugh is such a big deal, but same times its refreshement, and as you know, scoffing deductes the time you have in a nagative way, and as we believe in . laugh is just a sin, a little sins, becouse of you were created to walk on your development instead of westing time with your friends only for fun, . just laugh a little and do alot. that is the statement we can be more productive"laugh a little and do alot"

| Alan's humorous writings are amazingly skillful. They are not farfetched at all, although they were written to teach something. You learn so much, even the nuances between the words, eg chuckle/laugh, while you enjoy reading humorous stories and jokes. I've never seen such a pleasant way of language teaching before. |

hi torsten
The latest lesson I've received is so nice. It made me laugh out of the court. hehe. Well, how humorous I am? I am really a person who laughs easily even with corny jokes. But I find it difficult to make someone laugh. How ironic...... I guess " laugh and the whole world will laugh with you" is true. so lets make our day great with our laughs.... hehehe |

A very good way to learn English is to buy joke books. I bought last time I was in England. Now I have found so many jokes on the Internet so I don't need that books. /Maria |

Hi! I think that a good teacher in English must be a humor because learning English is difficult. sometime it is very boring if the teacher didn't know how make to their students understand and enjoy with their subject. so a humorous teacher is very important, they can make their student feel freedom and close with the teacher, they haven't got feeling on scare teacher... |

Lough or is a Irish word for sea or bay. I think you mean laugh.
Here comes a Swedish translation of that idiom.
laugh on the other (wrong) side of one’s face (mouth) skratta så lagom, bli (vara) så lagom glad (mallig), tappa lusten att skratta;
I don't know where you come from so I can't find a translation in your language sorry.

I think that everything which goes over the monotony of the lessons should be welcome. It helps catching up students' attention and awaking their memorizing capacity. Once I watched a documentary on why is humour beeing used in advertising. And I learnt out that humour helps not only catching attention and memorizing at the moment, but also sharing it later whith others, and by this way, indirectly, remembering it once again. Who hasn't yet told his friends about a funny advertisment he had watched on TV or about a funny joke his teacher had been telling him? |

Algerian Joke:
Kamel and Brahim are two students in the primary school. In the first-day-of-the -week morning, Instead of singing the national anthem, they were whispering between them. The teacher come and showing the Algerian flag, asked Brahim:" What does that flag represent for you Brahim?" Brahim: "it's our national flag,sir." The teacher:" Yes, it is. And so, it represents your father, your mother, your uncles, your ancestors,...ok!"and now looking to Kamel:" And you Kamel, tell me what does that flag represent for you?" Kamel: " It's Brahim's family." |
