Dear Torsten:
Thank you for the invitation. I would love to join and be active in your forum. As I read the other messages, I noticed that a lot of the members are mostly teachers or working as an interpreter or a student. I am neither, but I do use a lot of written and oral English in my daily work as Human Resources practioner here in the Philippines.
Although Pilipino is our national language, the medium of instruction in schools and the general means of communiction in our offices is the English language. If you are familiar with call centers, it is the sunrise industry here in our country. A lot of call centers are being put up to service the requirements of other english speaking countries such as the USA, Canada, UK and others. It's so interesting to listen to call center agents talk like a native english speaker. It just shows the extent and the level of English usage and training we have to excell in this line of work.
Just the same, I am very much interested to further improve my written and oral english skills...
Best regards,
Sherry |

Hell Torsten, thank you for your reply. This morning I had a walk down town, just a stroll among the ancient ruins, you know the Colosseum and the Foro romano, and there, looking at these marvellous vestiges of the ancient times (I think Sue would have appreciated too) I felt very proud of my town again. I said again because we are not living good days here in Italy. But talking about politics and economic crisis is such a bore! And to be optimistic I cannot forget that the old history of my country teaches that everything has an end. Didn't the Roman Empire pass? Didn't the temporal power of the popes pass? Din't the fascist distatorship pass? So this stupid crisis is bound to have an end, too. I only hope it will be soon. Any way living here it's a bit caotic and stressfull but it's worth living because it's in a wonderful scenery Bye Barbara P.S: Iwould appreciate if you could correct my mistakes |

Hi Torsten, I am glad to join this forum. I do want to get engage with all the members, but sometimes I am afraid I can't write the message corectly since I am still learning. Eventhough I have to speak English every day, sometime I feel unconfident with my English. Am I too childish? |

Hi, Torsten,
Love this forum, as I said last time I don't have Internet all the time, but still, everytime I get online, I must come here to check new informations. Though I'm an English teacher, I never been abroad, there are always questions for me and this forum helped me a lot. Thanks for you and your team to make this wonderful website. |
