Hi,

I read the following sentence in a report. The author had discussed the Wellington market before this sentence. Therefore, I feel that ‘continued strength’ should be replaced by ‘the continued strength’. Am I correct in that? Also why the author omit an article here?

Continued strength in the Wellington market continues to be offset by some weakness in the Murray River valley.

Thanks,

MG.

Both "continued strength" and "the continued strength" would be correct in different contexts. "The continued strength" would usually mean something like "the continued strength that has already been mentioned".
