What do you think were the problems faced by the Tamils in SriLanka? #1 (permalink) Tue Nov 18, 2008 8:48 am   What do you think were the problems faced by the Tamils in SriLanka?

Hi, everybody,
1. What do you think were the problems faced by the Tamils in SriLanka?
2. We are in for trouble.
3. How do you think you can make them become good?
4. Whom/who do you want to marry?
=> (can we put whom or who without change of the meaning.)
5. I have a shrewd idea who the mystery caller was.
Are these above questions & statements OK grammatically?
If wrong, please correct them.
Thanks.

Yours truly,
Er.S.M.M.Hanifa.

Hi Hanifa,

2. We are in for trouble.
3. How do you think you can make them become good?
4. Whom/who do you want to marry?

5. I have a shrewd idea who the mystery caller was.

They all seem fine. 'Who' or 'whom' in your sentence are both acceptable and mean the same. In conversation 'who' would be used. 'Whom' in written form would be grammatically correct and formal.
