I think the verb 'to rest' is intransitive so you don't use it with an object. You can use it in such idiomatic phrases as 'rest assured'.

Torsten, but I saw in book was wtitten: Rest your head on your pillow Why I cannot say : rest your books on the table. Exdplain please Pupil _________________ the more we learn

Hi Pupil,
The verb 'rest' in your sentence is to 'relax' and whereas you can relax your head,elbows, legs and so on, you can't do that with a book!
